A credit score doesn’t measure your wealth, income or employment status—it measures your debt. FHA borrowers pay an upfront mortgage insurance premium that adds 1.75% to their loan amount. Then, most FHA borrowers pay annual premiums of 0.85% for the life of the loan. Even borrowers with a FICO score between 500 and 579 could get approved via FHA with a down payment of 10% or more.
While this loan requires a down payment, it allows you to purchase a home if you do not qualify for other mortgage loan programs. For further eligibility requirements visit the FHA website. FHA loans have some of the most lenient requirements, making them a good option for many first-time homebuyers and borrowers with no credit.

Now that you have a home it’s a great time to start a home based business. I won’t get into all of them here but if I were you I’d start a blog, a Youtube channel or write article on Medium. You can do all those things with very little money and they all have the potential to make you rich some day.
If you aren’t in a hurry, you may want to put home buying plans on hold and give your spouse some time to build credit. He or she should look into secured credit cards if he or she is unable to qualify for a conventional card. During this time, make sure your spouse pays every bill on time and carries a low balance on the first-time credit card.
How To Build Credit
If you know someone with good credit who you trust, ask if you can be added to their credit card account as an authorized user. This will allow you to use the card without being responsible for payments. Buying a car is a major expense, which is why many take out an auto loan to finance the purchase. You’ll typically need good credit to qualify for a loan—so if you have no credit, getting the financing you need might seem unattainable.
As we’ve mentioned, 100% LTV isn’t an everyday product, and it’s pretty difficult to qualify for – the only usual scenario is if you have a guarantor to back your application. Few lenders offer a 100% mortgage product, so choices are limited. 100% mortgages do have some disadvantages, in addition to the need to find a family member or friend who will act as a guarantor and has sufficient income for the lender to accept them. One of the most common ways to get a 100% mortgage without a deposit and bad credit is to use a guarantor mortgage.

Credit inquiries have a negative effect on your credit report. They may only ding your score a few points, but multiple inquiries in the time leading up to your application will give a lender pause. These loans need to be ‘manually underwritten.’ Manual underwriting means the borrower can’t be approved by a lender’s computerized underwriting system.
When you have no credit, it means you’ve never borrowed money before, and therefore have no credit score at all. Both of these scenarios can make it challenging to buy a house, but there are solutions. Let’s talk about some ways first-time home buyers with no credit history can still accomplish their goal of buying a home.

If your credit report is thin to nonexistent, there are several mortgage options available. Manual underwriting is a process that allows a real person to determine your creditworthiness, often using criteria other than a credit score. If you want to buy a house with no credit, a manual underwriter is much more likely to approve your application. If you’ve never had credit or only had credit for a short time, the credit bureaus may not have enough information on you to calculate an accurate credit score.

Buying real estate with a partner can make it easier to get a mortgage because there are two of you to split expenses and guarantee the mortgage. If your partner has bad credit and makes no money then they won’t help you much. But if they have a good credit score and other financials then they can be a big asset.
But this doesn’t mean borrowing should be cost prohibitive. You could still become a homeowner with an affordable monthly payment and start building equity. VA loans are a good option for lower-credit borrowers with a military service history.
To apply for a USDA loan, start by browsing active lenders. The first thing you must do if you’re buying a home with bad credit and no down payment is prove you can make mortgage payments, despite what your credit history shows. You’ll need recent tax returns, W-2s, bank statements and pay stubs.

Bad-credit home loans also tend to come with much higher interest rates. A secured credit card is designed to help borrowers establish credit. When you sign up, you’ll make a cash deposit that will act as the credit limit for your card. For example, if you deposit $200, your credit limit will be $200. Lenders are typically hesitant to lend to borrowers with little or no credit as they aren’t sure they’ll get their money back. One way to assuage their concerns is by making a larger down payment, which in turn means you won’t need to borrow as much.
